When Death Occurs

Planning a funeral while dealing with loss might be one of the toughest challenges you face in life. But you don’t have to do it alone. We’re here to make sure it doesn’t feel like it’s just your burden.

Where to start when someone dies?

We all respond differently when we lose someone close to us. There’s no right or wrong way to feel, so be patient with yourself and those around you. When you’re ready, there are some things you’ll need to do.

Repatriations

When a death occurs at home it is necessary to contact the Doctor of the deceased or the out of hours service, so that the doctor can attend and confirm the death. If the person passes away in a nursing home or a hospice the staff at the home will contact the on call doctor to certify the death on your behalf.

Once the Doctor has confirmed the death a ‘Confirmatory Medical Certificate’ will be issued. If the person passes away out of normal surgery hours, it is possible that an on call doctor will attend. If this is the case a letter will be given to the next of kin, attesting that the death has been confirmed.

Once the Doctor has attended our Removal Technicians then bring the deceased back into our care.

If you require any further information please contact one of our members of staff.

"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you,"

Isaiah 41:10
